This is an engraving on the left and the ink drawing that it came from on the right.

I call this one Poor Basil. It’s based upon having read the Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde and the ideas within the book. The print is all about the power of ideas, how we are subconsciously driven to do certain things based upon what we have previously done in life, and being pulled in different directions by influences, both positive and negative. There’s too much symbolism in this for me to explain everything… probably because I’ve been doing a lot of reading in the Symbolist art movement lately, it’s pretty rad stuff. This is the ink drawing, I have a screen print too but I printed it on black paper and can’t get it to scan right for some reason. I’ll see if I can get it to photograph at some point.

Long overdue St. Patrick’s Day print. Back to the holiday idea with a vengeance! It’s based upon St. Patrick’s Day having nothing to do with its actual context and instead is about drunken debauchery. I was looking at a lot of Neo-Classical works at the time I made this which probably influenced the busy setting. This probably took over 200 hours due to more technical setbacks than I can count. It’s somewhere between a 22-27 layer screen print, I don’t even know at this point. Good lord this was a headache, I want a drink just thinking about it.

So this is the final print for now, I might modify it a little bit later on. Most of the edition is on tan paper but I did one on red japanese and I thought it looked pretty sweet. This print was inspired by valentines day and is called Love Is A Dog From Hell. Theres a whole lot of symbolism, basically everything in it has a meaning, but I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.
Look to the previous post for process of it.

I’ve never really documented the process of making any prints so I decided I would for this woodcut because I got a phone that takes decent pictures finally. Heres a day-by-day log leading up to getting ready to print. I’m gonna go scan the final piece and put it in its own post in a day or two, but in the meantime enjoy.

So this is based off my experiences at the state fair, it’s a 4 color litho (purple key, yellow, red, and blue) that I finished a while back and never got around to photographing. This guy took about 130 hours or so if I were to guess..
